Details
I am proud to announce a new meetup group called the St. Louis mountain climbing club. The purpose of this meetup is to introduce local people to the wonderful and exciting world of mountain climbing. I have summited the top four highest peaks in the lower 48 states (Mt. Whitney, Mt. Rainer, Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert) Class One and Class Two climbs with Mt. Rainer a mix of snow, ice and rock. The meetup will sponsor some quest speakers about their mountain climbing experiences and to lead a group out to climb Mr. Elbert (14,433 feet) over Memorial Day Weekend. Mt. Elbert is the tallest mountain in Colorado and is a Class One climb (Class one described as hiking on a well established trail requiring no specialized climbing gear nor exposure (no risk of a fatal fall). The first organizational meeting will be held on March 7, 2026 at 2 pm at Field Theory 8153 Big Bend Blvd. St. Louis Mo. 63119. An ice axe will be raffled off and snacks and drinks provided. Base camp in Colorado will be at Leadville Co., just a mere 15 hour drive from St. Louis (quicker if by plane). Located near the trail heads for both Mr. Elbert and Mt. Massive. The organizational meeting will be held at Field Theory located at 8153 Big Bend Blvd. St. Louis Mo. 63119 on March 7, 2026 at 2pm.
