Group Readaloud: Susan Sontag's "Against Interpretation" (concluded [really])
Details
In this session, we will first do a round robin where we each give our take on her last section: "10: In place of a hermeneutics we need an erotics of art."
Google AI: "No, eros is not always about sex. While the ancient Greek concept is strongly tied to passionate, romantic desire, it is fundamentally about a deep life force, longing, and the drive for connection."
Then we will read A.O. Scott's "How Susan Sontag Taught Me to Think", and if time permits, a Reddit discussion of her essay (https://www.reddit.com/r/literature/comments/1h2549p/sontags_against_interpretation_discussion/).
