Stephen King Book Club: The Outsider
Details
Our next read is The Outsider. The book's promo said: "An unspeakable crime. A Confounding investigation." Our horror novel opens with the body of an 11-year-old boy being found, along with DNA and fingerprints, all pointing to a well-known member of the community. Given the nature of the crime, the detective on the case is sure he has the killer and makes a big public arrest. The criminal says, it wasn't me (they all say that, right?), I was out of town; I have alibis. Well, to say things go from bad to worse would be a major understatement. The criminal's attorney hires an investigator who brings in Holly Gibney, a private investigator of Finder's Keepers, to help figure out what happened. We know Holly from her original appearance in the Bill Hodges trilogy of novels, and later from If It Bleeds, Holly and Never Flinch. Holly finds out that a very similar murder to the boy's took place before.
Join us as we find out if seeing is really believing. In the words of Holly- keep your mind open.
I will send out the Zoom link a few minutes before the meeting.
