How much do we owe to others?
Details
Peter Singer asks an uncomfortable question: if you could prevent something terrible from happening, at almost no cost to yourself, why wouldn’t you?
For our next Table, we’ll sit with that provocation and what it demands of us. How much do we owe to others? Does it matter whether they’re across the street or across the world? And if the answer is “more than we’re giving,” what do we do with that?
No philosophy background required. Just bring your curiosity, your honesty, and a willingness to be a little unsettled.
Disagreement is welcome; respect is essential. The Table is not a lecture or a debate, it’s a small, honest conversation about how we live and what we owe one another.
A short reading (10–15 minutes) will be shared one week before we meet.
