The Opinions We Don’t Say Out Loud
Details
For our fifth edition of The Table, we’re trying something slightly different.
This evening will explore ideas we often keep to ourselves—not for shock value, but because they carry tension, contradiction, laughter, or social risk.
Participants will anonymously submit statements in advance. A small number (3 or 4) will be selected for live discussion.
For each round:
- we’ll privately reflect on where we stand
- one participant will offer a short defence of the idea
- the group will engage through questions and discussion
- we’ll revisit our perspectives afterward to see what, if anything, shifted
This is not a debate night. It’s an experiment in thoughtful disagreement, intellectual curiosity, and examining how we form beliefs.
As always, The Table values:
- curiosity over performance
- questions over arguments
- strong opinions, loosely held
Spots are intentionally limited to keep the discussion thoughtful and conversational.
Have a think about whether you’d like to participate. I’ll send out a short Google Form one week before the event to gather and curate a small selection of ideas for the evening.
