Introducing everybody

This Zoom meeting is to get to know each other and to figure out what kind of stuff the members are interested in. I'm looking forward to seeing you all.

I'm using Zoom registration, which you may not have seen before. It provides a bit of security against Zoom bombers. However, it complicates the registration process - you have to register with the Meetup system AND the Zoom system.

First, you RSVP to this meeting. That just makes a link appear on the right hand side of this ad (under "Online meeting"). Click the link and that takes you to the Zoom registration page. Fill in the form and you will receive an email, subject "Techie Meetup Zoom Meeting Confirmation". It contains the link and password to join the meeting on the night. Without it, you can't join.

When you register, you also get a confirmation screen containing the same information but you have to press a button to see the password. Many people find it easier to use the email.

If you want to invite a friend to the meeting, you are most welcome. Please send them the registration link, not the joining link. That's for you only.

All of this stuff could be made simpler, but it's controlled by Zoom and there's nothing I can do to change it.
