They Define It, We Defend It: QA for AI Systems | Calgary Meetup
InceptionU, 800 3 St SE 3rd Floor, Calgary, AB T2G 0E7, Calgary, AB, CAWhen the intelligence in your product is defined by someone outside engineering, testing gets strange. The credit risk team owns the adjudication rules. The R&D team owns the extrapolation model. Developers implement it, QA verifies it, and the only people qualified to say whether the answer is right are nowhere near the test suite.
Join The Test Tribe's 28th Calgary Meetup to see how QA can close that gap, before broken logic ever reaches production.Event Details

- Time: 5:45 PM – 8:30 PM MT

What's on the Agenda?
They Define It, We Defend It
Speaker: Ian Percival, Director of Software
Engineering, Highwood Emissions ManagementIan will cover the tooling QA can build to close the gap between the people who define business logic and the people who test it: control panels that let experts turn their own dials and run scenarios, and harnesses that capture an expert's "yes, that's right" as a fixture with expected results. The result is a workflow where the people who defined the logic can validate it themselves, before it ever reaches production.
How This Meetup Solves Your Problem
If you've ever verified logic you didn't fully understand, because the real answer lived with a risk team, a data science group, or some other team outside engineering, this session gives you a concrete way to close that gap. Ian shares the actual tooling patterns his teams use to bring domain experts directly into the validation loop, instead of leaving QA to guess at what "correct" means.
Why You Should Show Up
- Learn how to build control panels that let domain experts run their own test scenarios.
- See how to turn an expert's sign-off into a reusable fixture with expected results.
- Get a practical model for validating logic your engineering team doesn't own.
- Meet fellow testers, automation engineers, and QA leaders from Calgary's testing community.
