It's the end of the world as we know it

This time we are interested in books about the end of the world in one shape or another. This could mean the literal end of the world, but also metaphorical uses of the idiom, where a character is facing a radical change in the world as they used to know it. But as always, you are free to come up with your own interpretation of the topic!

Whatever your choice, you are cordially invited to briefly present one or more books of any kind (fiction, non-fiction, whatever) that you reckon relate to the end of the world as we know it.

Afterwards we will have a casual and friendly chat about the books, about the end of the world, and wherever else the conversation takes us!
