Welcome to The Tippling Philosophers (TPs) Meetup group!
What is happiness? What is a flourishing human life? Are we alone in the universe? Is sex with AI lovers ethical if you're partnered? Should we treat elders with more respect than our youngers? Are we living in a simulation and how would we know? Is progress inevitable? Who should by the next round? Is democracy the best way to run a society? etc etc.
If you are someone who asks questions, likes thinking, likes socialising and meeting new people and want to chat to like and unlike-minded people over a pint (or coffee etc) then we are a group for you.
We started out about 20 years ago meeting in pubs in the Fareham area and have decided to broaden our reach.
The format is as follows: Chit chat and pint, one of us presents a brief stimulus for thought and gives their take on the issue, we then open it up for general discussion and finally go round the table (no pressure to say anything if you prefer) with our where we stand having listened to the discussion. This is all interspersed with drinks and getting our good friend Johno to buy a round (just joking!).
