Join us in enjoying this beautiful season! Learn a little permaculture & walk the forest. View the beaver dam and lodge at McGowan Creek Bring the kids! Get your hands dirty with farming skills classes. Some highlights include:
- Learn about how to use the system known as permaculture to integrate our activities with the organisms who reside with us
- Participate in educational tours of the Farm and Forest.
- Help build a Hugelkultur mound with a core of logs and limbs to fuel the growth of complementary edible plants
- Learn how to harvest garden "waste" to create biochar to capture carbon & enrich soil culture
- Learn about plans for the Ecovillage
- Eat great food, including fire roasted sweet potatoes, salad and veggie stew provided by our Farm! BYO dish or beverages
Saturday 21rst:
10 am Forest Walk
1 pm Farm Tour - focus on life sustaining crops
3 pm Permaculture 101
4:15 Hugulkulture Cultivation & Making Biochar
5:30 Fire/Grilling begins (BYO protein to grill)
6:00 Dinner
Sunday 22nd:
10 am Brunch
12 pm Farm Projects
10-5 pm Making Sorghum Syrup
Please wear weather appropriate gear & boots. Bring gloves, hats, insect repellant, water, chairs etc. so that you are comfortable. The ground and trails are uneven and accessible with ATV wheelchairs. Privy, composting toilet and handwashing station available.
