Silent Reading Meetup in Central Park (Western Tokyo)
Details
Need a nudge to finally start that book—or to keep turning pages, slowly but surely?
This is a low-pressure, introvert-friendly gathering for people who love books and also love silence.
Bring your favorite drink, your current read, and your introvert energy. We’ve got space for it all.
Sure, Nakano’s Central Park isn’t NYC—but you can pretend. The name’s the same, and the vibe is perfect for a calm morning with a book.
Sunglasses and sunscreen might come in handy on a sunny day. (Weather permitting, we'll likely be outside.)
Rough Schedule:
- 8:45–8:50 – Find a table
- 8:50-9:00 – Say hello and share what you're reading
- 9:00–10:00 – Quiet reading time together
- 10:00–10:15 – Short wrap-up chat
- 10:15 – Leave
📅 When: 8:45–10:15 AM, Sunday, June 15
📚 Books: Bring any book—paper, digital, or audio
Note: Though the book club is usually nonfiction-focused, I’d love for fiction to be part of the silent reading meetup.
🗣️ Language: English (everyone is welcome, including non-native speakers)
📍 Where:
☀️ Sunny or cloudy:
Southeast corner of the park—Good Morning Café is nearby if you need a landmark. Look for the group at one of the five large tables (each seats about six people). Should all the tables be taken, we’ll move to a different spot.
🌧️ Rainy:
Semi-indoors, between two restaurants:
- No. 3: Izakaya: Sen-Nen no Utage (千年の宴)
- No. 5: Indian Curry: Thali-Ya (タリー屋)
Located on the 2nd floor of the South building—look for the round, dark khaki tables.
Warning: It’s actually No. 3 and No. 5, but the website lists them as No. 5 and No. 4.
Getting there (from Nakano station):
Follow the red dotted arrow from the North Exit of Nakano Station on the Access Map. It takes about six minutes to reach the southeast corner of the park.
