This group seeks to explore the field of philosophical thought through salon-style conversation.
Literature will most commonly be considered as a point of departure for conversations, but we also consider the studies of our members and alternative media sources for our conversations.
The foundation of conversation centers on proven argumentative methodologies, though, in the interest of educated questioning, we even question those methodologies.
We do not restrict ourselves to purely "new age" philosophy; we look at historical sources for support in our reasoning. Although the concept for the group is (almost overwhelmingly) broad, the scope of each meeting will remain quite narrow, and although our individual philosophies may be quite rigid, for the purpose of conversation, we consider many possibilities and encourage suppositions.

KANTIAN ETHICS, PART 1
Hello fellow enjoyers and exercisers of the mind we’ve been given. Above is a link to the reading for our April 20 Kant Part II meeting.
The reading is titled “Kantian Ethics, Part 1.” This is because, in February, we worked through what might be called his “pre-ethics”—his epistemology—so that we could better understand what he is doing here.
Kant is often regarded as one of the most important philosophers in history not simply because of what he concluded, but because of what he attempted:
to show how reason itself can move us beyond empirical thought and scientific method into the realm of metaphysics.
And if that move succeeds, then ethics is no longer merely practical or cultural—it becomes grounded in something deeper, something necessary.
In this session, we will begin to see how he makes that move, and whether it holds.
We will also have to confront a difficult question:
If reason can truly ground morality, what does that say about our duty to act accordingly?
