What we’re about

About Us

This is a community for women in New York who have chosen not to participate in the heterosexual marriage system — a system historically built to serve patriarchy, restrict women’s freedom, and extract their labor, time, and emotional energy. We are women who refuse to be molded into a role, a service, or a tradition. We are here to build friendship, solidarity, and a new way of living on our own terms.

Our Goal

Our goal is to create a space where independent women can connect, talk openly, and support each other. We meet to share wisdom, analyze how patriarchal systems operate around us, and discuss real strategies for protecting ourselves — and younger women — from the pressures, myths, and aggressive behaviors that society still normalizes.
At the same time, this group is also about joy, fun, and living fully. We heal and strengthen ourselves by building community

Who We’re Hoping to Meet

• Women who have intentionally chosen not to enter heterosexual marriage, or who are actively questioning it
• Women who want a community grounded in autonomy, critical thinking, and feminist analysis
• Women who want friendships that aren’t centered around dating/ marriage talk
• Women who are ready to support each other, uplift each other, and speak honestly about the pressures we face in society and at work
• Women who want to share ideas they read in “unpopular” feminism books/ articles that are actually invaluable to true female liberation

This group is open to women of all backgrounds who share these values and want community in NYC.

What We Do at Our Events

We meet to talk, think, share, and build strategies together. Topics may include:
• How to navigate male aggression and entitlement in the workplace or daily life
• How to break cycles of patriarchal expectation in ourselves, our families, and younger girls
• How to protect our sisters from being pressured into the “traditional” path
• How systems like marriage, motherhood expectations, and gendered labor still shape women’s choices
• How we can collectively resist, redefine, and rebuild our lives outside those systems

Outside of these discussions, we will also enjoy anything that helps us recharge and grow:
• Coffee/tea meetups
• Group hikes
• Meditation or yoga sessions
• Reading circles
• Winter city events
• Walks, art shows, and spontaneous small outings
• Low-pressure hangs where we simply exist together in peace

We know everyone is busy — just send a message when you want to join something or help organize an event!
