Hello! We want to start the new year off right at one of Washington’s best birding locations!
Here’s the current schedule for our next planned meet-up—I hope you can join us! Feel free to share the name and email(s) of anyone you think might be interested.
BIPOC Birding Walks
Saturday, February 7th, 2026
⏰ 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 Multiple locations in Skagit Valley / Fir Island, Washington
This field trip will include 2 to 3 stops, which will require driving and carpooling. The first stop and meeting location (1:00 PM) is Fir Island Farm Reserve (Skagit Wildlife Area Unit). The plan is to end the trip just east of Edison, WA, to carefully time and hopefully see Short-eared Owls.

Some helpful tips for birding in Skagit Valley:
• The drive to Skagit Valley / Fir Island is over an hour from the Seattle metro area; please plan accordingly.
• Please remember to bring warm clothing—it gets very cold and windy in that area 💨
• Please bring your Discovery Pass for entry into the wildlife areas, or be prepared to pay cash.
🦆 The BIPOC Birding Walks are free to join! No experience required—rain or shine! If you’ve ever been interested in bird-watching or nature walks, we’d love to have you join us.
🦅 Bring your own binoculars if you have a pair. I’ll bring a few extras, and if there aren’t enough, we can share. Looking forward to seeing you out there!
