TALKS AND BIOS

Nabila Khalid - Design Consultant - Evouke

Nabila is the founder of Evouke. Her latest UX design project for Cancer Central combines her user-centric design practices and her education in Biomedical science and interest in psychology and emotions. Working in collaboration with teams including IBM, American Express, Expedia, Nabila is designing a platform that would provide one centralised source of information related to cancer with an AI chatbot interface that is powered by IBM Watson.

Her talk will focus on the importance of factoring in the different emotional states and abilities of users when designing a chatbot interface. In particular, she will look at customisable chatbot experience in order to make chatbots more inclusive of wider audiences.

Chris Callaghan & Adam Prendergast - UX & Optimisation Directors - McCann

Chris leads the UX and Development teams at McCann Manchester and is one of the few in the world to be UX and Usability certified by both NN/g and HFI, is a UXPA mentor, a MediaTrust mentor. Adam currently works on the MRM/McCann LAB13 technology innovation project.

Chris and Adam will talk about the creation of their first client chatbot and the UX lessons they learnt along the way. This will be a practical talk, with takeaways on UX considerations you will need to make, from mapping out the architecture of a bot to prototyping and testing it.

James Linnegar - Lead Technical UX - Thoughtworks

A previous life as a front end developer has proven a difficult habit to kick, so he spends his time experimenting, prototyping and testing different interfaces and techniques with varying technologies and degrees of success.

This talk is about some of his learnings developing simple voice interfaces for Alexa. In this talk he will run through three of the example skills he has created, from Manchester transportation advice to content discovery and discuss some of the design decisions and constraints involved.

Simon Hoang - Lead UX/UI Designer - TickX

Simon currently works as the Lead UX Designer for TickX. He concentrates on creating an appealing product that users want to engage with, through strong attention to detail, pushing boundaries with visuals and integrating modern frames of reference to convey the brand.

Through his experience, Simon has learned the significance of user experience and user interface to guide the aesthetics of design, as well as the overall impact UX have on shaping a product. His talk will focus on key UX and UI elements - in particular how it has shaped TickX.
