a private guided tour of McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove.
Long before McMenamins took over, the Grand Lodge had a very different life. Built in 1922 as the Masonic and Eastern Star Home, it was created as a sanctuary for widows, children, and aging Masons who needed care. Imagine the grand marble foyers and Ionic columns welcoming not tourists but families seeking comfort and community. In 1926, they even added a “Children’s Cottage” for orphans—though that chapter was brief, it left behind layers of memory and stories that still ripple through the halls.
Fast-forward nearly a century and the Grand Lodge has transformed into something entirely new while keeping those old bones and echoes intact. McMenamins didn’t erase its past; they painted murals about it, tucked tales into stairwells, and made sure the walls still whisper if you listen closely. Walking the grounds today feels like stepping into a time capsule crossed with an art gallery, where history, mystery, and a touch of October 🎃spookiness mingle in every corner. This tour isn’t just a walk through a quirky 1920s lodge—it’s a chance to explore a living storybook layered with secrets.
Afterward, we'll have the opportunity to have lunch together, linger outdoors, or a stroll around the grounds.

The tour starts promptly at 10:30 AM (please arrive a little early for parking & check-in)
⏱ Length: 60–75 minutes
💲 Cost: $15 per person
👥 Spots are limited!
20 people max.
VAC members can bring one guest (+1). If you’re bringing a plus-one, it can be anyone you’d like—your spouse, partner, a family member, or just someone you enjoy hanging out with.
That means:
Solo = $15
With guest = $30
Once we hit 20, the waitlist kicks in. If we overflow with demand, Caitlin (our fabulous tour guide, and McMenamins historian) may be able to add a second group the same morning. Join the waitlist if the event fills for the possibility of adding a second guided tour - both will occur at the same time.
💳 How payment works:
Your RSVP is a “raise your hand”—but your spot is only locked when you pay.
After you RSVP, you’ll have 48 hours to send payment via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle (details will be sent to you privately.)
Didn’t pay within 48 hours? Your spot goes to the next person on the waitlist. (Watch for a private message with venmo, Paypal, or zelle details.)
🅿️ Parking & arrival
Parking at Grand Lodge is free but limited, so carpool if you can. We’ll meet in the Main Lobby to check in before the tour.
