An online place to be at home, or perhaps meet a friend
In the 1840s, Irish men were not welcome on the streets of New York. To walk openly was to risk beatings, harassment, and worse. Slowly, quietly, places of safety emerged—pubs and taverns known to be Irish. Not because they were loud or defiant, but because they were recognizable. You could step inside, lower your guard, and belong.
It is 2026. In some states, the word “gay” itself has become legally restricted—spoken with caution, avoided, or erased. And so, once again, the need for recognizable places of safety returns.
Here, gay is not a slur or a threat. It is a place. A place to sit, to speak honestly, to be known. A place where gay men can find community, safety, and perhaps a friend.
These are biweekly conversations for Gay men of the Hudson Mid-Valley. All are welcome. This is a safe place to be yourself. RSVP below for a direct link and passcode
