The Waiting Room - Strength for the Journey
Details
About this Group
When a partner is incarcerated, the world doesn’t stop, but it certainly changes. Between navigating the legal system, managing household shifts, and dealing with the emotional weight of "doing time" on the outside, it can feel like you’re walking this path alone.
"The Waiting Room" is a safe, non-judgmental space specifically for women to find community, share resources, and focus on personal growth. As part of the Millette Methods philosophy, we believe that while your partner may be restricted, your personal evolution shouldn't be.
What to expect:
• Monthly Meetups: Casual gatherings in the Denton/Bowie area (coffee shops, parks, or private meeting rooms).
• Shared Wisdom: Exchange practical tips on visitation, JPay/GTL, and staying connected.
• Empowerment: Brief life-coaching segments focused on resilience, self-care, and maintaining your identity.
• Total Privacy: A sisterhood that understands the need for discretion and "no-questions-asked" support.
Whether you are in the first month of a sentence or the final stretch, you don’t have to wait alone. Join us as we turn "waiting" into "growing."
House Rules: Our Sacred Space
To ensure every member feels safe and respected, we ask all participants to honor these guidelines:
- Strict Confidentiality: "What is said in the room, stays in the room." To protect our families and our peace, never share another member’s story or identity outside of the group.
- No Legal Advice: We are here for emotional and practical support. Since everyone’s case is different, please refrain from giving legal counsel. We share experiences, not legal expertise.
- Judgment-Free Zone: We come from all walks of life. We do not discuss the nature of our partners' charges unless a member chooses to share for their own healing. We are here to support the woman, not litigate the past.
- Empowerment Over Venting: While it’s important to share our struggles, we strive to end every meeting with a focus on a "forward-moving" thought or goal.
- Respectful Communication: Please allow everyone space to speak. We listen with empathy and avoid "fixing" unless a member explicitly asks for advice.
