How to communicate anything to anyone and see a real impact - communicating effectively and efficiently
Andrew Murphy

Everyone thinks they are good at communication, but... how many times have you been at an event talking to someone you really didn’t want to talk to? Been sold to by someone who didn’t get that you weren’t interested?

These are examples of bad communication and they all have a few things in common, they weren’t efficient and they weren’t effective.

They didn’t go into the communication with the right mindset and the right preparation

Also, sorry to say it, but your own communications probably suck too. But after this talk you’ll have a leg up on your competition: you’ll know your communication sucks... and you know how to fix it.

Andrew combines his 13 years of professional software engineering experience with a passion for leadership and communication skills.

Originally from the UK, He has consulted, performed workshops and developed software for clients across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Common pitfalls between designers and developers and how to overcome them
Melissa Orr and Thiago Campezzi

Should designers code? Should developers design? Why are we asking these questions today and do they help us work together? Thiago and Mel will share their stories from working in a cross-functional team at MYOB. They will share how they have fine-tuned their working styles to be better collaborators and produce better outcomes.

Thiago and Melissa have been working together at MYOB for 2 years. They are part of the small business expenses team, working on mobile, web, and desktop applications.

Thiago is a self-taught mobile developer who originally graduated in marketing but couldn't take it anymore. In addition to leading the mobile development for his team, he also runs programming sessions at MYOB and mentors graduate developers.

Melissa is a UX designer who loves skateboarding and designing for people. When she's not balancing on her board, she's balancing the needs of the users, with business and tech. She's learned to dust herself off and try again, try again.
