Details
http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/8/b/7/event_41923191.jpegEscape some of the heat and Join me for another Hump Day Hike with the Weekday Trailblazers!
This little adventure will be a moderately strenuous 7 1/2 miles with a sea to crest elevation gain of 1100 feet. We'll loop clockwise from the trailhead upstream on the La Jolla Canyon Trail to the Overlook Trail. There will be great scenic views of the Ocean, Sycamore Canyon, Boney Mountains & Pt Mago to be seen as we hike to join into the Ray Miller/ Backbone Trail that decends back down to our Trailhead/ La Jolla day use area. At some point near the highest crest we'll stop to enjoy a snack/beverage break before re-grouping for our final descent. With some luck and timing, we should be able to catch some Sunset opportunities as well.
Parking info:
The Trailhead is located across the highway from the Thornhill Broom State Beach. A fee is charged for parking. There is free parking in lot before the entrance or on highway 50 ft before/after entrance.
Essentials:
Please wear – brush-resistant pants/shorts, one or more wicking shirts appropriate to the temperature, comfortable hiking shoes or light boots, your favorite undergarments and accessories, and a light backpack.
Please bring – at least two liters of water, snacks, an extra layer of clothing, a charged cell phone, identification, a headlamp, a small first-aid kit, bug repellant and sunscreen, a waterproof shell if rain is forecast, and any medications or anything else you might need on the trail.
