RSV Through The Back Door - a Gentler (not Beginner) Hike

Details
*PLEASE* read the directions to the different parking location.
We generally get into Rancho Sierra Vista either through the RSV parking lot, or the dusty pull-off at the end of Wendy Drive. This time, we'll access it through a seldom-used "back door" in the neighborhood south of Lynn Road.
We'll loop through the NPS ranger residences, Satwiwa, RSV grassland, then climb our way to the Hidden Valley Overlook. We will partially retrace our steps, descend the Eagle Scout staircase, make our way diagonally across the meadow, then take the longer route back to the cars.
This is a 5.6 mile double lollipop loop hike, with 725' of elevation gain.
NOTE: Please review the guidelines to participate in our hikes. Restrictions apply for your safety and ours. Here are some highlights:
- Don't show up unless you're on the "Attending" list
- No "Plus Ones" on this hike
- Plan on completing the entire hike or please find an alternative hike that better suits your hiking level.
- No dogs allowed on State Park trails.
Directions:
Exit 101 at Lynn, Borchard, or Wendy and make your way to the Reino / Lynn intersection. Turn south on Reino (towards Boney Mountain), then right on the short stretch of Potrero Road that lies between RSV and the little neighborhood. Drive west a half mile to Pinehill Avenue, and park on Pinehill between Potrero and Greenwood Street. Gather on the south side of Potrero, at the chain link fence. If you need a location to set your nav system, use 4277 West Potrero, Newbury Park. DO NOT PARK ON POTRERO - you will be ticketed or towed.
From Pacific Coast Highway – Turn north on Los Posas, right onto Hueneme Road, and right again onto Potrero. Take Potrero northeast up the canyon all the way to the point where it turns into Lynn, and then to the Lynn / Reino intersection. From there, follow the directions, above.
I put this line in making a bet from another member that no one would read this line in the description.
