"The Golden Bowl" by Henry James (Meeting 1 of 3)

Happy Summer! In this meet-up we will be reading Henry James intricate novel, "The Golden Bowl".

Due to the works length, we will be breaking this meeting across three meet-ups, and the chapters to be read will depend on the version of the book you have on hand. The most common version has Two "Books" (First and Second), and each book has six parts, for a total of twelve parts. In which case, the book will be broken as follows per meet-up:

July 28th - Book First, Parts 1 - 4
Aug 11th - Book First, Parts 5 - 6; and Book Second, Parts 1 -2
Aug 25th - Book Second; Parts 3 - 6

The other version, which can be read for free on Project Gutenberg, via the following link: "The Golden Bowl" by Henry James, has two books (First and Second), and each book as three parts, for a total of 6 parts. In which case, you will break up the reading as follows:

July 28th - Book First, Parts 1 - 2
Aug 11th - Book First, Parts 3; and Book Second, Parts 4
Aug 25th - Book Second; Parts 5 - 6
