What we’re about

Do you love reading books from the global literary canon since 1900? Do you enjoy exploring different cultures, perspectives, and styles of writing?
If so, join us at The World Literature Club!

We are a group of avid and open-minded readers who meet once a month to discuss a selected book. We read books from various eras, regions and styles, such as the Bloomsbury group, France in the 1920s, Italy in the 1950s, the Latin American boom, Caribbean, the Polish avant-garde of the 1930s, and post-WW II Japanese fiction.

In this club, we will read trios of books connected by region or theme. For example, over the course of three months, we might read three Japanese post-WWII novels. This way we can draw connections between the novels and dig into some of the historical and literary context. As a group, we will vote on future novels and thematic ideas.

Our book club is open to anyone who loves reading and learning about the world. You don’t need to have any background or expertise in literature or history to join us. All you need is curiosity and respect for different opinions.

To join our book club, simply sign up on Meetup.com and RSVP to our next event. We look forward to meeting you!

Happy reading!
