Let's Do A Writing Exercise Together! [Sentence Length]
Details
We'll be working through Ursula K. Le Guin's craft guide "Steering the Craft" one chapter at a time.
This time, let's pick back up chapter 3: sentence length and complex syntax.
Agenda
We'll be doing two exercises to practise our awareness and use of sentence length and syntax.
Prework
Please read the chapter (uploaded here) before the meetup. There are several - wonderful, varied - examples in the chapter to warm up our brains for the exercises.
If we have the time, we'll be reading each others' work. Otherwise, we'll work with select volunteers ;) Pen and paper (or writing tablet) works best for this sort of thing, but no stress if that doesn't work.
Tentative Plan
1. We get ourselves acquainted with the exercise.
2. We spend 20 minutes doing part 1 of the exercise.
3. After a 5 minute pause, we do part 2 of the exercise for 30 minutes.
4. As a group - or in pairs - we discuss what we've written.
Notes
1. This is an English language meetup where we'll be speaking and reading English.
2. Please make sure to order something as we'll be hanging around for a while.
See you there!
