What we're about
What we're about: Meeting other moms; creating fun play for our children; making friendships; having fun; learning from each other; being real; being mothers; being women who happen to be mothers; making the most of our lives; laughing; cooking; crafting; exploring NoVa and DC; meeting each other's SOs; leaning on each other; having real, deep, honest conversations; giving advice; helping others through situations we have experienced; being gracious; being kind; being the best parents we can be; finding connections; showing our kids a great time.
Many of us have stumbled into this new stage of our lives: motherhood. Stay-at-homeness. Leaving careers and jobs and school and embarking on a wonderful and frustrating new journey of diapers and bento-box lunch boxes and play dates. None of us know *quite* what we're doing, but we're having an incredible time doing it!
If this sounds like you, please complete the profile and we'll be in touch! We keep our group small to form close-knit friendships, but we consider membership on a monthly basis.
Who wants to be a typical mama when you can be a marvelous mama?
BEFORE APPLYING PLEASE READ:
Life is too short to bring negativity or stress to a play group (of all things)! There are no perfect mommies in this group. There are no perfect children. We don't need instructions on how to raise our children. We don't need competition on who can create the best Pinterest snack. We believe we are women first (with interesting pasts, careers, thoughts, and dreams), and mothers and wives second. Your kid may be in it for the play date (or the juice boxes and cupcakes, let's be honest), but we expect you to be in it for the friendship.
This group is intended and designed for part time and full time stay-at-home-moms. If you are working full time, are on break for the summer, or are on maternity leave, there are lots of other great groups on meetup that would better suit your schedules!
Our group consists of mostly 1-4 year olds, but we have some younger and older siblings.
We expect you to give back to the group, in the following ways: (1) hosting/sponsoring a play dates at least every other month, (2) attending play dates at least one time per month, and (3) following through with your RSVPs as much as possible.
Profile pictures are required. We do this so we are able to find new members in crowded areas. Your picture may contain others, but you must be in it.
Our group is concentrated in the Woodbridge area. Many events are held in member homes, from Lakeridge to Manassas to Triangle. We welcome members from outside areas like Alexandria and Stafford, but please consider whether or not driving times are realistic before joining.
We take security and privacy very seriously when it comes to our children. We meet beforehand with all potential members at a public meetup for a meet and greet. This also gives you an opportunity to get to know some of the group members and decide if this is the right group for you.
All communication is through the Meetup site. We will be contacting you to schedule your meet and greet. Please check the messages section of your Meetup account or your inbox when you open the Meetup app. Prospective members we do not hear back from will be automatically denied.
After being accepted to the group, new members will have a 30-day trial period. During this trial period, new members MUST attend at least 1 event and pay annual dues of $10.
