We will be in the room on the 1st floor.

This meetup will be co-hosted with Roger Jones.

The Examined Life, "Let's Read..." session is an open discussion reading group held about once every other month, concerning a single work of philosophy.

For each session, members read a piece of philosophy. The main request is to learn the key points from the text (which will form the basis of the discussion), with optional extra background material/depth. If applicable it can include a podcast at http://partiallyexaminedlife.com

This is also a ''Revisited'' event, which means it has been done before, so for this meetup the intention is to be more focused on 2 main aspects of the text.

This session: Wittgenstein's "Philosophical Investigations"

On our second visit to Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations we will look more closely at the following topic areas:

First half:

The Private Language Argument

Break (approx. 15 mins)

Second half:

“…the meaning of a word is its use in the language" - Discuss
(from section 43 PI)

The methods used will include:
• A chance for everyone to speak if they wish
• Large round table discussion
• Small group discussion
