What is the cost of ignorance?

Everyone has something that they are ignorant about. But sometimes there are important events in our lives that make specific topics important to us.

An example could be being ignorant of Nigerian prince scams and transferring all your money to a scammer.

Or a more recent example that affected everyone: the COVID pandemic and learning about virus transmission or the vaccines.

Is there a limit to the cost of ignorance?

Can we remain ignorant and delegate the knowledge to someone else and pay close to no cost?

What historical examples demonstrate the highest costs paid due to collective ignorance?

The Examined Life, "Let's Discuss..." session is an open discussion.
The format of this event will be:

13:15 - Open group discussion on the main topic.

14:00 - Break into smaller groups for focused conversations based on the topic and your interests.

16:00 - Official end of the meetup, though many participants often stay until 6:00 PM for continued discussion.

This format allows for both broad exploration of ideas and intimate conversations in a relaxed, engaging atmosphere.

Please RSVP if you can commit to attending and change your RSVP if something comes up. Inaccurate RSVPs can keep potential attendees on the waiting list and makes it difficult to plan for room sizes and bookings.
