What we’re about

I have the basement home theatre (4K projector, 120" screen, 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound system). I have the large and diverse film collection on blu-ray and 4K UHD disc. I've even got the little, "Now Playing" sign... but I need people to enjoy it all with! Cinema is best when the experience is shared - at least it is for me. I love introducing a great film to others (I get to vicariously experience it anew as well), and I love learning about a treasured classic through enlightening discussion or watching special features like retrospective documentaries which put the film in historical context.

I'm hoping you feel the same. "Theatre Dunc" is open, typically once a week, to those interested in coming up to north-west London for a group screening. Buffs can also...

......make requests from my collection (click http://www.blu-ray.com/community/hybrid.php?u=204871 to view)

......contribute to film conversations via event page comments, group discussion threads, and/or the London Film Buff Facebook page

......borrow titles from a lending library created using Buff contributions

There's no obligation to come to every event... or even most events: if you're intrigued by that week's offering then come on out. Otherwise, take a pass. The only thing I ask is that, if you've RSVP'ed yes but something comes up, please change your RSVP to no so I know how many spots to set up, so we're not unnecessarily delaying the screening waiting for you, and/or to free up your spot if there's a wait-list. It's a simple request and it's just basic human consideration: don't bother three times and you'll likely find yourself unceremoniously turfed from the group.

I will aspire to provide variety in content; I'd also entertain the formation of subgroups of 'Buffs' - for example, a separate screening schedule for Buffs who enjoy foreign or more 'arthouse' fare. BYOB if you wish, and/or snacks to share.

So: whaddya think??? Browse the collection, there's something for everyone: everything from beautifully restored silent films to pristine copies of golden-age classics to modern-day blockbusters. Quiet movies to stimulate the mind, and special-effect extravaganzas to dazzle the senses. Hope to see you at a screening soon :).
