THE BASES is a creative art space located in Kodaira, Tokyo.
It includes artist studios, a gallery space called space hues, and a small café called TABLES.
THE BASES supports exhibitions, workshops, and community events, aiming to connect art with everyday life.
And we have a sketch event on Wednesday evening.

I have long created artworks inspired by everyday materials, exploring the unique landscapes each material offers. When cooking, I’m equally fascinated by how to bring out the best in each ingredient (I can be very particular about keeping stir-fried vegetables perfectly crisp—seriously!).
For this event, the theme is “Eating Vegetables Raw”—a simple idea that opens the door to a deep and fascinating world of food. This approach mirrors the way I see and create art.
This season brings an abundance of colorful vegetables. Of course, everyone knows you can eat cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers raw… but how about corn? Okra? Pumpkin? Yes—they can be delicious raw. In some countries, raw mushrooms and bean sprouts are also common.
Let’s (safely) explore the lesser-known faces of familiar vegetables, traveling through flavor and food culture. To complement the freshness, I’ll be serving crisp, dry sake from Niigata—perfect for sipping as we taste.***

日常素材をテーマに素材ならではの風景作品を作ってきました。普段料理をする時も素材をどう活かすかに興味があります（炒め物のシャキシャキ感にうるさいです笑）。
今回の「野菜を生で食べる」はシンプルなテーマで奥深い食の世界に入っていけたらと思います。それは僕のアートに対する目線と同じです。色とりどりの野菜が並ぶこの季節。きゅうりにトマト、ピーマンくらいはもちろん分かるけど、、では、コーンは？オクラは？かぼちゃも？生でおいしく食べられます。
国によってはマッシュルームやモヤシなんかも生食が一般的だったりします。
普段目にする野菜たちの少し違った顔を探しながら（安全の中で）味・食文化の狭間を旅しましょう。
素材を邪魔しない辛口の新潟地酒も用意しますのでそいつをあおりながら楽しみましょう。
