FRI Peanut Island Snorkel and Beach Day

- purchase ticket at shuttle site
- take the shuttle to the island - $25 round trip
- once on the island, walk left on the path
- after the 1st restrooms, go to the beach and make a right looking for my blanket as we are usually between the two lifeguard stations

Join us for another day of snorkeling and beaching at Peanut Island in Riviera Beach, one of our favs. I consider this one of the beginner snorkel spots since the man-made reef is so close to the beach. If you have never snorkeled here, you are in for a treat as there is an abundance of tropical fish.

"Peanut Island is an 80-acre man-made island located at the mouth of the Lake Worth Inlet in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. It was created in 1918 as a result of dredging-related projects. These projects not only formed the island but also created the Lake Worth Inlet and the Port of Palm Beach. Over the years, additional dredging contributed to the island’s growth from a mere ten acres to its current size of nearly 80 acres."

There are no concessions, so bring everything you need for the day, that includes snorkel gear, towel, dry clothes, sunscreen, water, food (no alcohol allowed). In addition to snorkeling, we can stroll around the island and relax on the beach.

There is a tiki bar nearby. Maybe we can go for an early dinner and cocktail after our ride back to the mainland.

SHUTTLE TIMES: every 30 minutes (I will take the 9:30 or 10 am shuttle)

MEETING SPOT: On Peanut Island, somewhere between 2 life guard
stands to the left of the shuttle dock

HOW TO FIND US: look for orange, aqua and white sand blanket

WHAT TO BRING: blanket, towel, umbrella, sunscreen, snorkel gear,
water, snacks (no concessions), change of clothes if
you want to go for a cocktail afterwards (there are
showers to rinse off.)

WHAT TO EXPECT: snorkel the man-made reef, wade in the lagoon, walk
and explore the island or just relax on the beach and socialize
