Sunday Coffee @Highroad, Dickson

Occupying a high-ceilinged corner shop in Dickson, Highroad is one of a handful of national flagship cafes for Canberra specialty coffee roaster, Ona (the others are in Melbourne and Sydney).

As you’d expect, coffee takes center stage here. Two sleek espresso machines and multiple coffee grinders overlook the casual space, which is strewn with a mixture of tables, cosy booths and bar seating. A fit-out comprising natural timbers, exposed brick and decorative cornices channels a sophisticated mid-century aesthetic. Natural light floods the space through wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows.

Ona is one of the country’s most highly awarded coffee roasters, so naturally the range of brew methods and flavor possibilities for your daily ritual are seemingly endless here – as is the staff’s knowledge of coffee. Seasonal blends and single origins are available in espresso, filter and nitro formats, and there’s a formidable retail section for brewing at home.
