You know that conversation?
The one that starts with “so, what do you do?”
and ends exactly where it began?
We’re leaving that one behind in the city.

This October, The Round Table packs up its coffee and takes to the road. Fifteen people. One minibus. A village where looms have been clacking for generations, and where the chai is poured by people who have all the time in the world to talk.

From the first flask at sunrise to the last cup under the stars, every pour is an invitation. To talk about books and journeys and the strange little things that make life yours. To listen to a weaver’s story.

To fall into a philosophical rabbit hole with someone you met four hours ago. Or to just sit quietly and listen. That’s welcome here too.
Where are we going? You’ll find out when the wheels start rolling. Who will you meet? That’s the best part.

Bring yourself. We’ll bring the coffee.

# The Seven Cups

Five cups are designed as part of the program. Two are left wonderfully unplanned. In between, there will be plenty of unscripted moments — and those count too.

CUP 1 · THE FIRST SIP 7:00 AM
On the bus, as the city wakes up

  1. Seat Lottery: Draw a card and find your seatmate. No sitting with the friend you came with.
  2. Two-Question Cards: A small deck of curious, low-pressure questions to get the first conversation moving. No small talk allowed.

CUP 2 · THE HIGHWAY POUR 8:30 AM
Breakfast at a roadside stop

  1. Unscripted: Steaming filter coffee, plates of hot tiffin, and whatever conversation wants to happen. Our only rule: phones stay in pockets.

CUP 3 · THE HOST’S CUP 10:00 AM
Arrival in the village

  1. Chai with the Weavers: Sit with our host families in their courtyard. Ask anything — about the craft, the village, their lives — and be ready to answer their questions about yours.

CUP 4 · THE LOOM WALK 11:30 AM
Among the looms and dye vats

  1. Walking Conversations: Pair up and stroll the weaving lanes with one big question between you. Every ten minutes, switch partners. Rotating seats, Round Table style — just on foot.

CUP 5 · THE ROUND TABLE UNDER THE NEEM 2:30 PM
After a banana-leaf lunch

  1. The Big Circle: All fifteen of us in the shade, with a bowl of question cards in the middle. Books, travel, life, the occasional deep dive. Nothing is off-limits except pretence.
  2. The Listener’s Chair: One seat in the circle for anyone who would rather just listen for a while. Take it whenever you like.

CUP 6 · THE GOLDEN HOUR POUR 5:30 PM
At sunset, as the village slows down

  1. Unscripted: Fresh chai, folk music drifting from somewhere nearby, and the kind of easy conversation that only happens after a full day together.

CUP 7 · THE LAST CUP 7:30 PM
On the ride home

  1. Notes for the Road: Write a short note to someone you met today about what they brought to your day, and hand it over before we reach the city.
  2. One Word Home: Each person sums up the day in a single word. Then the bus goes quiet, or doesn’t.

And everything in between: the conversation at the window seat, the joke at the dye vat, the story that starts while you wait for chai. We plan the cups. You bring the moments.
