I’m planning to take a train to London and then a tube to Kings Cross st Pancras. If you wish you’re able to take a coach to London.
Eurostar from Kings Cross St Pancras at 10.04am. We need to be early for this train due to passport control.
Return: from Lille is at 21.05pm, then from Kings Cross st Pancras - a train back to Southampton. You’re also able to take a bus.
Sightseeing in lille:
The Architecture: Old Lille (Vieux-Lille) is stunning, featuring 17th-century, red-brick Flemish townhouses and cobblestone streets. You will also spot the ornate Vieille Bourse (old stock exchange) and the stunning Gare de Lille-Flandres facade.
The Food & Drink: The city boasts a brilliant dining scene. Be sure to try the savory carbonnade flamande (beef stew in beer) or welsh (a rich local beer and cheese dish), and treat yourself to the famous Merveilleux pastries at Aux Merveilleux de Fred.
Museums & Art: Lille packs a cultural punch. Highlights include the Palais des Beaux-Arts (one of the largest fine arts museums in France) and nearby La Piscine Museum in the suburb of Roubaix, housed in a breathtaking Art Deco former swimming pool.
