The Data Lab is excited to host Alessia Musio and Will Chase for our March 2022 Meetup event.
Alessia joins us from Milan Italy to talk about the indissoluble link between design and data and will discuss why it is so important to approach dataviz projects taking deep care of their storytelling. She will also share some information design pieces together, talking about two key aspects: the aim of each project and its relation with the audience.
Will joins us from Axios as a Data Journalist and will take us behind the scenes of Data Journalism, sharing some of his current passion projects, work with Axios. Will also plans to share some information around the dataviz membership program he runs for any aspiring dataviz specialists.
Both Will and Alessia will speak on their respective topics for 15-20 minutes followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Please feel free to submit questions for our speakers prior to the event via the google form.
Alessia Musio: Data Storytelling
Alessia is a freelance information and communication designer who believes in the importance of working with awareness and responsibility. After attending the final Final Synthesis Studio with the DensityDesign Lab, she graduated with a data-driven thesis about the controversy related to LGBT parenting. She’s been working in the Data Visualization field since 2019. She likes: positive people, handcrafts, coding, photography, pasta, network visualizations, words. She doesn’t like: arrogance, small talks, fights, cooking, approximation, lies.
Will Chase: Data Journalism
Will is a developer, designer, journalist, and artist. He uses his background as a researcher to better understand the world through data and he shares those insights by designing and coding visual essays. Will has done dataviz in academia, business, freelance, and he currently works at Axios as a visual journalist. He also likes to make experimental stuff for the web and generative art.
