Dr. Chris McKillop is a thought leader on AI and empathy. She is Founder and CEO of Turalt whose mission is to use the ‘technology of empathy’ to help humans be more human online. Turalt uses AI, together with cognitive and psycholinguistic models, to support and develop empathy skills in business communication.

Chris has a degree in Artificial Intelligence, an MSc in Human-Centred Computer Systems, and a PhD in Educational Technology which focussed on the emotional dimensions of learning. Her research led to over 25 publications and numerous international conference presentations. She has a long record pioneering technological innovations to improve learning in both academic and workplace settings. Her background in empathic counselling, together with her expertise in AI and learning, are central in supporting Turalt’s vision for helping companies increase their digital emotional intelligence.

Her unique, and human, approach to AI has led to Chris being sought for podcasts, panels, articles, and as a speaker. Chris talks on AI and: empathy; the future of work; learning; gender and diversity; and ethics. Her personal mission is to show how AI can help us understand our humanity, and to help make the world a more empathic place.
