Annual New's Year Day Paddle

Details
THIS HAS BECOME A DRY SUIT ONLY PADDLE DUE TO COLD WATER AND AIR TEMPERATURES. PLEASE ADJUST YOUR RSVP ACCORDINGLY.
This has become a tradition with DVK. Meeting Location: We will meet at Bull's Island Boat launch (which is just north of Bull's Island Campground- the directions may take you to the park office, the boat launch is a few hundred yards north of the park office) and is where we will finish the paddle
Launch Location:We will launch from a private boat launch just south of Upper Black Eddy Estimated Duration/Milage: this paddle is just over 11.5 miles and should take about 3-4 hours
Shuttle Required?: yes, we will meet at the take-out and move as many boats to as few cars as possible
Skill Level: I would recommend beginner plus, this paddle does have class I rapids with swift moving water
Boat Types/Lengths: no boats under 12 feet
Cancellation Info:wind or heavy snow will cancel
Contact Number: Jim's cell phone: 856 905-5263
Fees or Permits Needed: There is a five dollar per car parking fee and three dollars per boat if the private launch is available, otherwise , as a back-up only, a PA launch sticker is needed if we launch from Upper Black Eddy Park
Special Equipment Needed: Cold weather gear is mandatory. I dry suit is required for combined water + air temps under ninety degrees. As usual, pfd required, and due to size of the river would recommend having bilge pump and/or paddle float in case of emergency.
Food: We will be stopping at an island around the mid-point of the paddle for lunch/snacks so bring something to eat and plenty to drink
Loaner/Rentals Available: there are no rentals available that I know of
Important: The Delaware Valley Kayakers collects no dues and assumes no responsibility.
NOTICE: By attending an event you are agreeing that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AT ALL TIMES. No member of the group EXCEPT YOURSELF can be held responsible for any damages, accidents, or liabilities incurred while paddling with us.
