Samhain Silent Supper
Details
Join the Firefly House for our Samhain Silent Supper on Friday, October 30, at 7pm.
We will gather in Dash's house no later than 7pm and start around 7:20pm, but folks are welcome to arrive as early as they like after 4pm; a private comment below (for attendees) will help you there.
The evening begins with a short ceremony to invite our dearly departed to join us followed by our meal. Feel free to bring photos or items that remind you of your ancestors; we'll make an altar of all of them for the night. During the meal, we do the best we can to remain as silent as possible to try and sit with our ancestors as much as we sit with each other. The silent portion of the evening ends with the ringing of a bell, and then we'll finish eating, wrap up with the closing portion of our ceremony, and enjoy each other's company for the remainder of our time together.
Please plan to bring something to share for dinner. Unlike a typical pot luck, we hope that you might be able to bring something that reminds you of your ancestors, regardless of who they might be, and for those that do so, you'll be able to share briefly what you brought and why it's important to you. Dash will provide entrées, one of which will be vegetarian, and if folks need to warm up their food, arrive early to try and snag some time in the oven or the microwave.
Unlike many of our gatherings, there is a maximum number of people that we can cram into Dash's house. We'll try to keep the RSVP list accurate, so that folks on the waiting list might be able to step up and take a seat if someone else can't make it. But, you can help us do so by updating your RSVP if it turns out you're otherwise busy on the 30th. And, to reach the maximum number of people, we may need two people to stand and use a taller surface as a table.
If you have questions, post below or join our Discord and we can chat there.
