Did Ancient Rome and China know about each other?
Did they have relations and contacts?

The Seres population came to visit the Emperor Augustus with rich gifts...The word "Seres" comes from Latin "SERICUM" to refer to the "SILK"...so the Romans were referring to the Chinese people directly using the name of a commodity very typical in China and very much appreciated by the Romans.

As usual, I want to clarify that this is NOT a lecture, but just a discussion.
I am NOT a Professor of History nor a scholar , I won't be in the meeting to teach you anything.
We will ALL share what we know about this topic, what we have found out so far, and surely we can express (politely and respectfully) our own opinions.
Sharing knowledge is a cultural and personal enrichment and growth.

Even just asking questions will lead to interesting considerations.

It's not a problem if you are completely blank about this topic, you can just join us to listen to the conversation, surely you can also share your thoughts if you want.
What's important here is that you do not show up with just "rumors", please, bring facts.
Read something first on your own, before meeting up, read up about this topic yourself first, use google for your researches and prepare your considerations to share.

TIME: from 10am to 11am Eastern Time (I will call you via Skype from New York) - if more than 5 people, I will extend the time so that everyone can talk and share info

Contribution: a minimum of $13 is required for group maintenance, but as usual, thank you so much in advance for your generosity if you decide to put more (you can use VENMO or PAYPAL or Chase QuickPay)

Please, contact me for any question related to this cultural Meetup and our event about HISTORY and ANCIENT ROME.
