We are The ISO Club, an international photo community in Berlin. Whether you're a seasoned professional, an enthusiastic amateur, or someone who loves capturing life's beauty through a lens, this group is for you.

Photo Challenge - In Search of New Models!

Photo Challenge is our new event series built around bold, real-world photographic challenges that push your confidence, perception, and creative boundaries.

This edition — “In Search of New Models” — is about developing your ability to recognize visual potential, approach people with presence and respect, and create powerful portraits of individuals with natural beauty, strong character, and model-like features.

This is not street photography — it’s street casting.
You’ll learn how to identify striking faces, strong aesthetics, and unique presence in everyday urban life, and how to confidently approach them in a professional, human, and respectful way.

It’s a mix of:
• confidence training
• social intelligence
• street casting skills
• portrait photography
• human connection
• visual storytelling

⚠️ This event is only for experienced portrait photographers.
You must already be comfortable with camera handling, composition, and directing subjects. Moreover, please bring your business cards or at least a printed QR code with a link to your portrait photography Instagram account!

🧭 How it works

We meet at the starting location and wait 15 minutes for everyone to arrive.

Participants are divided into small teams of 3–4 people, mixing different confidence levels and social energy.

Each group’s mission is to:
• Identify people with model-like features, strong presence, or unique aesthetics
• Approach them respectfully
• Introduce the project clearly and professionally
• Ask for a portrait
• Create strong, clean, expressive portraits
• Build genuine, positive human interactions
A simple, respectful conversation script will be provided to make approaching easier, natural, and non-awkward — focused on clarity, transparency, and consent.

• No pressure — rejection is part of the process
• All models must receive their photos
• Any public sharing must be approved by everyone involved

Let's have a "Portray and Be Portrayed" outside of Internationales Congress Centrum (ICC) to enrich our portraits with futuristic, high-tech urban backdrops and mood!

During this event, you'll experience both sides of the lens: being a photographer and a model.
➔ Please only join if you're comfortable being photographed by other participants!

We will rotate roles so there is only one active model at a time.

You'll work in small groups of 3–5 people

This format is inspired by our successful TFP (Time for Photos) sessions.

📅 Itinerary

12:00 - Meet in the designated spots near ICC. We’ll assign groups for P&BP, and the photography session will kick off. As a group, you’ll have full autonomy to coordinate.

15:00 - We will meet back at the starting spot. We might go somewhere together afterwards to discuss the day’s photos, share photography tips, and chat casually in smaller groups.

📸 Photography session requirements
- Bring a dedicated camera (mobile phones won’t suffice).
- Have at least a basic understanding of portrait photography.
- Share your photos with others upon request—we’d love to feature your shots in our Discord! Check below for sharing guidelines.
⚠️ Obligations for "Portray & be portrayed" participants
- Be available to collaborate with fellow participants after the event.
- Share your photos with others if requested.
- We recommend using PicFlow to finalize photos that work for both parties. 😊
Sharing Guidelines:
- You’re welcome to post event photos in our dedicated #portrait-photography Discord channel without permission (unless a community member asks to hide specific photos).
- For public social media (e.g., Instagram), you must get mutual permission from either the photographer or the model before posting.

New to this event, we will attempt to capture a standardized portrait of each ISO Club member. More details will be shared during the event.

If you love nature & wildlife photography and are a great company, join our "Capturing all forms of life" event in Teufelsee!

Event concept:
We will split into smaller groups of 4-5 - the plan is to have a great time discussing life & photography and taking photos together. Just remember to meet us back at Restaurant Scheune at 17:30!

Your preference:
I've added a question - please answer it, so it will be easier for me to assign compatible groups at the beginning of the event. Thanks!

What to bring:
- your macro, standard, and telephoto lenses, depending on the nature photography type you are interested in
- hiking shoes, water, and some snacks due to potentially long walks
- raincoat/umbrella due to weather conditions

Itinerary:
- 14:00 - we meet close to S-bahn Grunewald:
- by 14:15 we will assemble groups and move towards Teufelsee. If you will be late, catch up with the team in Teufelsee
- 17:30 - we will meet at the entrance to Restaurant Scheune, where we will bond & discuss our results over a dinner

There is a high chance that we will also invite TFP models to this event! So this event could become P&BP + Group TFP or even pure group TFP if we will invite enough models - I will keep you updated.
