What made you join the drum circle?

I have been attending drumming circles, since I had resided in Florida and was part of a spiritual community of Artists, Musicians, & Health Practitioners (The House of Life Healing Temple), and anyone that was seeking to further fulfill their soul in the spirit of group unity. Being so eager to re-create a drumming circle here in New Orleans, I started a drumming Circle dedicated to meeting once a month during the Full Moon to receive the therapeutic effects of not only drumming but the healing energies of the Moon. Shortly after organizing my group, I found a couple of drumming groups that are close to me that I wish to connect with.

What is your experience level with drumming (or other instruments)?

I have 2 years of experience with playing the Piano, and enjoy Classical the most, however I also enjoy playing jams by Phil Collins, as well as some 70's and 80's classics. As for drumming I would have to consider myself a novice, as I have only been playing on and off for a year, and was never instructed by a professional.

Are you better with learning rhythms by listening to them, or seeing them on paper?

I am more of a visual learner in general but when it comes to drumming I am surely more apt to auditory learning.

Would you be willing to play at any public events?

I would absolutely be delighted too.

What is your drum/instrument of choice? (Possibilities include: doumbeks, djembes, bougarabous, bhogram, bongos, etc.)

I recently bought a beautiful Remo doumbek covered with Ancient Egyptian symbols & pictures, and am looking forward to playing it more often in a group setting.

My name is Amir-Hatef, I moved to Nola from FL & Love the Energy here.I have a passion for healing arts & offer my services as a Qigong Healer. I will be Studying Eastern Medicine to obtain a degree in Oriental Medicine in the near future.
