About us
The Makers Lab is a hands-on community for people who enjoy building, learning, and experimenting with technology.
Our sessions are designed as mini-hackathons that bring together software developers, product managers, designers, and anyone else curious about building in tech. We pick a real-world problem and work collaboratively or individually to build/vibe-code solutions using modern tools and workflows.
Our meetups are a great opportunity to learn from others, try out new technologies and workflows, gain practical experience building real-world applications, and connect with other people in the tech community. We hold both online and in-person sessions.

Build Your Own App - Mini-Hackathon
·OnlineOnlineJoin us for the next session of our Build Your Own App online mini-hackathon at The Makers Lab, where we’ll experiment with AI tools and turn ideas into working prototypes together.
How it works:
At the start of the session, we’ll reveal a real-world app idea. The idea will be simple enough to prototype in a few hours, but complex enough to require planning and problem-solving.
You’ll then work in small teams (or solo if you prefer) for 3 to 4 hours to build an MVP using modern tools - including AI coding assistants, low-code platforms, or any workflow you like. At the end of the session, anyone who wants can demo what they built and briefly explain their approach.
The goal is not to build a market-ready product, but to learn by doing and to see how quickly you and others can turn an idea into a working prototype. It’s a great opportunity to try out the latest AI tools, learn from others and their workflows, and connect with new people in the tech community.
Technical requirements:
You’ll get the most out of the session if you’re comfortable with at least one of the following:
- Building or prototyping a web app (frontend or backend)
- Working with data - finding sources, scraping, cleaning, or organizing data
- Designing or sketching a simple UI
- Using modern tools, such as: AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT), low-code or no-code tools
Please bring:
- A laptop
- Access to any tools you’d like to use (AI assistants, IDEs, or no-code platforms)
- An internet connection!
To learn more about the format, you can take a look at the idea from our previous session.
Let's build and learn together!
