Let’s Talk About It: Blood Slaves by Markus Redmond
Details
Our August book discussion is Blood Slaves by Markus Redmond.
Set in 1710 Carolina, the story follows Willie, an enslaved man who has survived eighteen years of brutality on the Barrow Plantation. After a failed escape, he encounters Rafazi, the last member of the legendary Ramanga tribe, whose blood carries supernatural power. As Willie begins reclaiming his true identity as Kwadzo Okoro, he must decide how far he is willing to go to protect the people he loves, fight for freedom, and destroy the system that enslaved them.
We will meet on Thursday, August 27th at 7:30 PM EST via Zoom to discuss the characters, Ramanga mythology, identity, power, vengeance, liberation, and the choices Willie makes throughout the story.
Come ready to share your thoughts, connect with other readers, and dive deeper into this bloody Southern Gothic vampire tale.
