🎨 “One Minute Speaking” MoMA (Mouthfuls of Modern Art)

Link visible for attendees

Play the role of an art lover and make up the meanings of a random ‘modern art’ as if they’re million dollar pieces (e.g. banana taped on a wall).

This event is inspired by a story where art lovers examine the pair of eyeglasses left behind on a museum floor, thinking it’s modern art.

Good exercise for 💪:
- Creative or humorous minds

Challenging for 💪💪:
- People who struggle with making stuff up on the fly, or interpreting visual meanings

Watch recordings of our past meetings and event format.

How it works:

You will receive a random image (a hilarious internet meme or a random household item) as a speaking prompt and will have one minute to talk about it. You could describe it, how it makes you feel, interpret its meaning, or as a challenge to yourself, try to sell it for a million dollars.

This event intends to spark creativity, and to help you practice thinking on your feet and speaking off the cuff. This event is not for show-casing your knowledge about art. We purposely excluded famous artworks whose meanings are known, or abstract images that are difficult to relate.

After every 6 people, you will vote for the art pieces you’re willing to bid for based on the speech you heard.

Etiquette:
● Turn on your video and keep it on
● Face the camera and maintain eye contact
● Do not interrupt the speakers
● We love remarks between speeches
● Unmute if in a quiet environment

This event will be live-streamed. Still screenshots of the virtual meeting may also be taken, and your testimonials and profile photo may be posted to the community photo albums and social media.

This event is free. If you are feeling generous, we suggest a $5 tip per event on our GoFundMe page.

🎬 "One Minute Speaking" Mr. Bose

Link visible for attendees

Meet people who also enjoy stretching outside their comfort zone. Stay calm under pressure by playing the role of a spokesperson responding to a news reporter "Mr. Bose" about a rather sticky situation.

For example:

  • Politician being asked to explain why she pulled out of a climate deal.
  • Banker explaining why all banking transactions would be halted while the authorities trace down a hacker.
  • Page 3 celebrity talking about his latest painting-the-town-red hook-up.
  • Walgreens store manager addressing agitated employees!

Watch recordings of our past meetings and a short video that explains our format and etiquette.

Join our private chat group on Discord.

Every attendee will be given a unique scenario to talk about for exactly one-minute, and every scenario would be unique - based on a mix of fiction and current affairs.

As with any press conference, you are allowed to respond to the situation with the temperament of your choice as long as you adhere to the community guidelines - we all know press conferences can be pretty heated at times.

Etiquette:
● Turn on your video and keep it on
● Face camera and maintain eye contact
● Do not interrupt the speakers
● We love remarks between speeches
● Unmute if in a quiet environment

This event will be live streamed. Still screenshots of the virtual meeting may be taken, and your testimonials and profile photo may be posted to the community photo albums and social media.

This event is free. If you are feeling generous, we suggest a $5 tip per event on our GoFundMe.
