• 🎬 "One Minute Speaking" Mr. Bose

    Link visible for attendees

Meet people who also enjoy stretching outside their comfort zone. Stay calm under pressure by playing the role of a spokesperson responding to a news reporter "Mr. Bose" about a rather sticky situation. Inspired by current affairs in politics, business and technology.

    For example:

    • Politician being asked to explain why she pulled out of a climate deal.
    • Banker explaining why all banking transactions would be halted while the authorities trace down a hacker.
    • Page 3 celebrity talking about his latest painting-the-town-red hook-up.
    • Walgreens store manager addressing agitated employees!

Watch recordings of our past meetings and a short video that explains our format and etiquette.

Join our private chat group on Discord.

Every attendee will be given a unique scenario to talk about for exactly one-minute, and every scenario would be unique - based on a mix of fiction and current affairs.

As with any press conference, you are allowed to respond to the situation with the temperament of your choice as long as you adhere to the community guidelines - we all know press conferences can be pretty heated at times.

    Etiquette:
    ● Turn on your video and keep it on
    ● Face camera and maintain eye contact
    ● Do not interrupt the speakers
    ● We love remarks between speeches
    ● Unmute if in a quiet environment

This event will be live streamed. Still screenshots of the virtual meeting may be taken, and your testimonials and profile photo may be posted to the community photo albums and social media.

This event is free. If you are feeling generous, we suggest a $5 tip per event on our GoFundMe.

If you have not yet attended our events: we are a group of challenge seekers who enjoy exercising our ability to think on our feet, speak off the cuff and respond to unplanned situations. We host weekday evening socials with a flavor of improv, creativity, and speaking. They range from our signature 'one minute speaking' zoom meetings, to social deduction games like 'Mafia'. We also hold in-person meetups monthly in Toronto, such as ax throwing, bonfire, ice-climbing, laser tag, etc. Check out our upcoming events. Join a small group for a fun night of one-minute impromptu speaking. Practice thinking on your feet, speaking off-the-cuff, and socializing with others. Quick paced, fun, thought provoking. Uncover your inner comedian and philosopher. Leave energized and supported.

    Good exercise for 💪:
    - People who prefer fun, laughs, energy, social interactions when practicing

    Not intended for 🥶🥶🥶:
    - People who prefer longer and deeper talks

Watch recordings of our past meetings and event format.

    What to expect:

Upon arrival, you will join everyone to introduce yourself briefly. When it's your turn, you will be provided with a prompt and have one minute to talk about it. After every ~6 people, you will answer a poll for the stories or messages you heard that most resonated with you. On nights with a normal size attendance, you will speak twice.

The prompts are hand-curated by Liam O'Brien. His prompts are usually a question about your opinion or experience on a certain topic. Some prompts are light-hearted, while others are introspective. A key reason why our fans rave about us are the interesting topics Liam brings together every week, and diverse perspectives they elicited. Liam's hosting style is personable, spontaneous and thoughtful.

This event is free. If you are feeling generous, we suggest a $5 tip per event on our GoFundMe.

This meeting is live streamed. Still screenshots of the virtual meeting will be taken, and your testimonials and profile photo may be posted to the community photo albums and social media.

    Etiquette:

    ● Do not interrupt the speakers during their minute
    ● But, we love witty reactions after speeches

  • 🤖 AI Art Fair

    Link visible for attendees

Hooked on taking pictures with your phone? Cameras are everywhere these days. But what if you had to rely on a Mouthful of carefully chosen words alone to “snap” or “draw” a pic?

At the AI Art Fair, you’ll exercise your creativity, attention to detail, and quick thinking. Convert your perception of images into words and back again. Participate in fast, fun challenges that test your ability to capture the things you see with descriptive language.

This event is inspired by Liam “Ferris Wheel” O’Brien’s prompt about the controversy surrounding AI-generated artwork and by the related article he posted on Discord.
    https://edition.cnn.com/2022/09/03/tech/ai-art-fair-winner-controversy/index.html

    How it works:
In the first round, the host will share one image to all the participants via screen sharing. Each participant will have one minute to type a description of the image and send it by DM to the host. The host will then plug each description into the AI bot. Results will be shared anonymously, one at a time, via screen sharing. Participants may discuss each result as it’s posted while the host generates the next image. Once all the results are posted, participants will vote on which result they feel came closest to the original image.

In the second round, each participant will be assigned the name of a celebrity. The participant will have one minute to type a description of their celebrity and send it by DM to the host. The host will then plug each description into the AI bot, one at a time, and share the results anonymously via screen sharing. Participants may chat about who they think each image depicts. After all the images are posted, the host will indicate which celebrity each result was intended to be. Participants will then vote on which result looks most like the actual celebrity.

A few specific rules on word counts, etc., will be presented at the beginning of each round.

Because this is a new event that may be hard to predict timewise, we’re limiting it to 10 seats during this run.

    Etiquette:
    ● Turn on your video and keep it on.
    ● Face the camera and maintain eye contact.
    ● Do not interrupt the speakers.
    ● We love remarks between speeches.
    ● Unmute if in a quiet environment.

This event will be live-streamed. Still screenshots of the virtual meeting may also be taken, and your testimonials and profile photo may be posted to the community photo albums and social media.

Let loose your inner creativity through an improv based drama practice, where there's no wrong answer. Watch a 10-20 second clip, put yourself into the shoes of one of the characters, and react, reflect or reimagine the future!

How it works: You will be given a 10-20 second YouTube clip and 2 conflicting perspectives. Choose one and act out your best impression of what you think will score the most points with the audience for one minute.

There's always more than one side to a story, but often times we don't get to stand in the other person's shoes. For this event, we get to choose which side we want to take (and if someone else wants to volunteer for the opposing view, that's even better). The scenes range from outright absurdity to nail biting adrenaline to tension so thick you can hear a pin drop. Embrace the moment because all the world's a stage and we are merely players.

After every 6 people, you will vote for the most convincing actor/actress. People acting for the opposing view will not count towards the votes (but can impact the original view's score in the eyes of the audience). To limit the amount of volunteers for extra prompts (and to give everyone an opportunity), we will limit one opposing view per speaker per round.

Watch recordings of our past events to get a feel of the vibes.

    Etiquette:

    • Turn on your video and keep it on
    • Face the camera and maintain eye contact
