Dover → Folkestone via Samphire Hoe

Where white cliffs, roaring seas, and history collide.

Distance: 8.94 miles · Duration: ~3h 55m · Pace: 2.3 mph
Elevation: +650 ft / -775 ft
Difficulty: 🌿 Intermediate — accessible, rewarding, and perfect for adventurers seeking breathtaking views without extreme climbs.

Highlights Along the Way

🔹 Shakespeare Cliff — A sweeping cliff face named after the Bard himself, offering a jaw-dropping first glimpse of the coastline’s grandeur.

🔹 Samphire Hoe — A stunning nature reserve born from the earth dug out of the Channel Tunnel. Here, wildflowers bloom against chalky cliffs, seabirds soar overhead, and the wind carries the salt and freedom of the open sea.

🔹 Abbot’s Cliff Sound Mirror — A fascinating relic from 1928, this huge concrete dish once listened for enemy aircraft long before radar existed. Stand here and let history surround you.

🔹 Sweeping Cliff-Edge Views — The path hugs the edge of the cliffs, where turquoise waters crash against chalky walls below — a perfect spot for epic photos and quiet moments alike.
