————————
Join us for an unforgettable adventure on the Yorkshire coast during the first Bank Holiday weekend of April.
This trip combines dramatic coastal scenery, legendary seaside villages, and an epic guided hike with a great group of outdoor lovers.
The Plan:
Our main adventure will be a 13.5-mile guided coastal hike from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay, one of the most beautiful trails in England.
Expect:
• 6–7 hours on the trail - Saturday
• Spectacular cliff views over the North Sea
• Hidden coastal paths
• A scenic lunch stop (optional)
• A relaxed pace with plenty of photo opportunities and wonderful company
The hike is moderate with a few small challenges, so a good level of fitness is recommended.
Accommodation:
We’ll stay at the legendary YHA Whitby hostel, located right next to Whitby Abbey overlooking the sea.
Rooms include bunk beds and private beds in shared rooms (2–8 people).
Average cost: ~ÂŁ77 per person for 2 nights
Rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Travel:
Travel to Whitby is everyone’s responsibility, but I will recommend the best train connections.
Typical journey:
- 4h30 from London King’s Cross (2 changes)
Estimated return ticket: ~ÂŁ138
OR by own transport
If there is enough interest, I’m happy to organise a group train ticket to potentially reduce the cost.
However, this will require payment in advance to secure the booking.
Costs:
🥾 Guided hike & organisation fee: £50 per person
🛏️ Accommodation: ~£77 for 2 nights
🚆 Train: ~£138 return (estimated) or own transport
Food, insurance and personal expenses are not included.
Breakfast is available at the hostel, or we can use the communal kitchen.
I’m also happy to organise a simple group breakfast (scrambled eggs, avo on toast & juice) with an everyone contribution…
Travel insurance is recommended.
📌 RSVP & Deposit
To secure your place, you’ll need to:
• RSVP via the Meetup event
• Pay a deposit covering accommodation + organising fee
This confirms your spot on the trip.
Full details (itinerary, meeting points, packing list, etc.) will be shared once deposits are collected.
⚠️ Important!!!!
A minimum number of participants is required for the trip to go ahead.
I’ll keep everyone updated and will do my best to confirm as early as possible.
The good news is that there’s already a lot of interest in this trip, so I’m feeling very positive it will happen!
📌 Refund Policy & Booking Terms
Once RSVPs close, accommodation and key arrangements will be booked and confirmed (typically around 2 weeks before the trip).
After this point, all payments are non-refundable, as costs will have already been committed on behalf of the group.
I understand that plans can change. If you’re no longer able to attend, you’re welcome to transfer your place to someone else — just let me know in advance so I can update the details.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover any unexpected cancellations or changes.
Thank you for your understanding!
