Theology At the Bottleworks #251: A Public Discussion Free to All
Wednesday, March 18, 2026 (Third Wednesday of Month as Always!)
6:30 p.m. at Schlafly Bottleworks Crown Room
Join us for this month’s Theology at the Bottleworks as we tackle the topic “Billionaires: Vice, Virtue, and the Very Wealthy.” The U.S. now hosts 924 billionaires - about 1/3 of the world’s total - with newcomers to these ranks including well-known names such as Beyonce, James Camerson and Roger Federer. With wealth inequality at the center of current public debate, from proposed wealth taxes to the influence of money in politics and government, we will explore the phenemon of billionaires from multiple perspectives: social, political, ethical, and spiritual. Are extreme fortunes a sign of economic equity, flourishing and freedom, or a symptom of systemic imbalance or favoritism? Do holders of vast wealth have duties or obligations as such, and if so, to whom and why? And how should society judge, regulate, or celebrate such wealth? What do YOU think of the billionaire phenomenon? We’ll discuss all this and more, so come have a brew, give your view, and lend an ear to others’.
