Monthly film, July—Bruce Almighty

Our next theology in film night will be on Monday July 31, 6:00. We will be watching the comedy Bruce Almighty, with Jim Carrey as a disgruntled news reporter who gets the opportunity to meet God face to face, and is endowed with all God’s powers since he thinks he can do a better job.

Topics afterwards will include how God is portrayed in the film compared to what we believe, whether humans even have a chance at doing God’s job well if given the opportunity, and how how similar Bruce’s complaints to God are with biblical complaints, such as Job and David.
