Our topic will be "Who Was G.I. Gurdjieff? An Intro to His Life and Teachings" presented by Carol Cannon, who has been a student of the Gurdjieff teachings for 30 years.
Gurdjieff was an influential Armenian spiritual and dance teacher, as well as an author in the first half of the 20th century. He was influenced by Sufi, Zen, and Yoga mystics he met on his early travels. Gurdjieff developed a method for working towards a higher state of consciousness and achieving full human potential. He called this The Work or The Fourth Way. He is known to have had connections to several people in the early Theosophical movement, who were involved in Theosophy as well as the Gurdjieff movement.
Carol is a 28-year member of the Theosophical Society and a valued member of both the St. Petersburg and Deerfield Beach chapter. Carol has traveled to Wheaton for ‘Young Theosophist” training and has given numerous talks at several chapters. A resident of Dunedin, Carol is a noted expert in the field of Feng Shui and speaks to groups of any size, teaches classes, and conducts weekend workshops.
