Paper Ceiling by Bakari Akil - Author Reading and Feedback Session
Details
(in Partnership with the Bangkok Book Club)
Hi readers!
We are excited to be bringing you something slightly different this month... Bangkok Book Club is welcoming Bakari Akil for a reading and feedback session. Akil is an author, soon to publish his first memoir, Paper Ceiling.
In this session, Akil will read the exclusive, first chapter from his memoir. There will then be a chance to share feedback with him and help shape his memoir in a small and supportive space.
Afterwards, there will be the opportunity to chat to Akil about his writing process. As with all Book Club meetups, there will be time to meet and chat in a relaxed environment with the group and make new friends.
I am hoping that these "author sessions" could be the start of expanding Book Club into writing and becoming an author. Please do reach out if you are interested in contributing to a session like this - I'm a reader, not a writer 🤓.
To get a taste for what Paper Ceiling is about, here is a short description:
"Paper Ceiling is the memoir of how I went from foster care and homelessness to buying multimillion-dollar companies — without a degree, without capital, and without invitation.
This is not a how-to book. This is the story of what can happen when you have none of those things and you enter the room anyway."
